20 on Bourbon

This project explored the feelings, energy, and isolation of Bourbon Street from the POV of someone who is 20, just under the legal drinking age in the United States. Being in this purgatory on Bourbon Street allowed me to feel the energy of the nightlife, while also providing me the space to observe the New Orleans scene from a distance. There was a surprising amount of children present who were with their parents working for tips, participating in street performances, or hanging around other children who were all seemingly under 12. It was a stark contrast to see these kids surrounded by excessive consumerism and party culture.

There were also people on hoverboards boasting giant snakes for pictures, and a person reading on the side of the road with a possum on their shoulder. Some interesting people I wish I had gotten the chance to talk to.
